Airport delay briefing: how to read the board before the crowd moves

2026-09-304 min read

The first five minutes after a delay notice can preserve the evidence you need later. Here is what to capture and why it matters.

Capture the exact flight record

Save the airline notification, flight number, scheduled times, the stated reason, and a screenshot of the airport board. A generic note that says ‘delayed’ is weaker than a record with a time and reference.

If you are connecting, save both boarding passes and the original itinerary before accepting a new route.

Separate the problem into buckets

A delay can create a rebooking question, a refund question, a baggage question, or a reasonable-expense question. They are not always the same request. Sorting them early makes the next message shorter and easier to answer.
